What we believe...

ABOUT GOD

We believe in One God who eternally exists in three persons: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal, which is the Trinity.

Genesis 1:1-3; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-3, 14; Colossians 2:9; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Timothy 1:17

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory.

John 1:1, 14, 20:28; 1 Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Philippians 2:5-6; 1 Timothy 2:5

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is given to every follower of Christ to guide, comfort, convict, and adopt us into the family of God. He helps us grow into Christ-likeness by producing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, and He gives us spiritual gifts to empower us to meet the needs of the Church and a hurting world.

Roman 8:11; John 14:15-18, 25-26; John 15:5; John 16:7,12

ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God. It alone is the final authority in determining how followers of Jesus should live their lives.

Matthew 5:17-18; Psalm 119:9,11; John 10:35, 17:17; Romans 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 3:15-16

ABOUT SALVATION

We believe that salvation is a gift of God to man. Man can never make up for sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

John 3:3,5,16; Romans 3:23-28, 5:1, 6:23; Galatians 2:16, 4:4-7; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5

ABOUT ETERNAL SECURITY

We believe that God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ; therefore the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot "lose" it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10,14

ABOUT ETERNITY

We believe that people were created to live forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is to live in Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

John 2:25, 3:16; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15

ABOUT THE CHURCH

The Church is the Body of Christ made up of all believers. Jesus is the head of the Church and the Holy Spirit is the power of the Church. The Church is not a building or an event but a community of individuals who have put their trust in Jesus Christ. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God, make disciples, make Jesus known to a lost world, and meet the needs of those in our communities and around the world.

Acts 2; 1 Corinthians 12; Ephesians 2:19, 4:11-13

ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

We believe in the ongoing process of spiritual growth of the Christian through the Holy Spirit and God's Word. Each person is to grow in their knowledge of God's Word and in developing and employing their spiritual gifts through the Church so others may come to know Christ and the Church may be built up into maturity.

John 8:31-32, 14:16-17, 16:13, 17:17; Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Galatians 5:22-23; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 5:11-14

ABOUT WATER BAPTISM

Following faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the new believer is instructed by the Word of God to be baptized in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38, 8:12,36-28, 10:47-48; Mark 16:16

ABOUT COMMUNION

A unique time in the presence of God when the elements of bread and juice, representing the body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, are taken in remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross.

Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 10:16, 11:23-25

ABOUT MARRIAGE

We believe marriage is defined in the Word of God as a covenant, a sacred bond between one man and one woman, instituted by and publicly entered into before God.

Matthew 19:4-6
